Subsections

Grading

Grading will be based on assignments (20%), one mid-term examination (30%), and one final examination (50%). There will be (approximately) four assignments. The mid-term examination is scheduled tentatively in the seventh week of the term.

All the written examinations will be open book, meaning that you can bring with you any documentation you like. Documentation sharing is however not allowed.

The basic marking scheme for assignments will generally be ``pass'' (A)/``fail'' (F), with up to 10% ``bonus'' marks awarded for exceptionally good solutions (A+). In some circumstances you can however receive a grade of B (50%). You can collaborate in doing your assignments in groups of no more than two persons. All the collaborators must be named and must be currently taking the course.

Special needs

Should you require special accommodations because of a disability, please come and discuss this with me at the beginning of the term. I will not take into consideration requests made on or after the day in which the first assignment is released. You must also contact the the Counselling Resource Centre to obtain authorization for any special arrangements.
