Grading

Grading will be based on approximately four tests, all having the same weight in the final grade. Some of this tests will be written examinations, and the others research assignments. There is no final examination.

All the written examinations will be ``open book.''

If it is to the student's advantage, ongoing evaluation throughout the course may replace some written tests. In other words, if the ongoing evaluation shows progress judged by the instructor to be worth m%, then the next test may be waived and the mark m may be awarded for it instead.

However, such a waiver shall take place iff both the student and the instructor agree to it. Your instructor believes that it is easier to get a good grade throughout the term than in the tests, but of course this is a matter of personal learning style and personal preferences.
