Introduction to Calculus II

Prerequisite A grade of C or better in Math 1003
Text Calculus - Early Transcendentals (Fifth edition)
by James Stewart (Brooks/Cole)
Syllabus We will cover the following sections of the text, though not necessarily in this order.
  • 4.10, 5.1-5.5: Integrals and the Fundamental Theorem
  • 6.1-6.2, 8.1 and selected topics from 6.3-6.5, 8.2-8.3: Applications of integration
  • 7.1-7.8, with 7.6 optional: Techniques of Integration
  • 9.1, 9.3-9.4, 9.6, 17.1, and possibly 9.5: Ordinary Differential Equations
  • parts of 11.10, 11.12: Taylor polynomials and Series, approximations
Grades Calculators will NOT be permitted during the midterm or final exam. You must bring your student ID with you to the midterm and final exam.
  1. Final Examination (65%)
  2. Class Work (35%)
    1. Assignments (10%): Due at the start of class on Fridays.
      NO LATE ASSIGNMENTS WILL BE MARKED
    2. Midterm (25%): October 14, 2004, in class
  3. If it is to your advantage AND you have a grade of at least 50% on term work (ie 17.5 out of 35 points), then the final will count for 100%.
