Pre/Corequisite You must have a suitable grade in NB Adv. Math 120 (or its equivalent).
Text Applied Mathtematics for the Managerial, Life, and Social Sciences third edition
by S. T. Tan (Thompson/Brooks/Cole, 2004)
Syllabus We will attempt to cover the following chapters of the text, though not necessarily in this order.
Chapters: 2, 3, 4, 5, 9
Grades Non-programmable non-graphing calculators will be permitted during the midterms and final exam. You must bring your student ID with you to the midterm and final exam.
  1. Final Examination (50%)
  2. Assignments and Quizzes (10%): Assignments must be handed in by the beginning of class on the day due. Late assignments will not be marked. The assignments must be neatly written, in blue or black ink, on 8.5"x11" paper, single-sided, and stapled in the upper left-hand corner. The assignment questions must be clearly labeled. You must include a title page which contains your name and student number, the course and section number, and the assignment number. Marks will be deducted for assignments failing to meet these requirements. There will be pop quizzes during class time. These will be short, open book, open notes, calculator allowed quizzes.
  3. Midterm (20%) each: February 1 and March 1. There will be no make-up tests. If you have a valid written excuse, marks for the test will be redistributed.
