Grading

You will be given about 4 assignments. Unless otherwise stated in the handout all the course work (including the assignments) are individual.

A take-home mid-term test will cover the material up to and including context-free languages and it is tentatively schedules in week 8 of the term. A take-home final examination will cover primarily the remainder of the course material, but it will also consider to some extent material previously covered by the mid-term test.

None of the written examinations will require physical presence. They will be administered as fillable PDF documents to be completed with your responses and returned to the instructor by email. The more detailed procedure will be provided in due course.

Any form of academic dishonesty will result automatically in zero marks for the respective test and may be further pursued according to the departmental and university regulations on the matter.

Grading will be based on the assignments (20%), the mid-term test (30%), and the final examination (50%). You will also be asked to prepare a research paper on a topic not presented in class. The actual topic will be established by yoour instructor in due course. The research paper will give you 25%. The grade thus obtained will then be converted to an equivalent grade out of 100.
