Grading

There will be approximately four assignments. Each assignment will ask you to solve a problem or research an existing solution for a problem. A proper report (including references as appropriate) will always be a deliverable for an assignment and may be published on the course's Web site (so that you have to release it under the site license). Selected assignments may also require a class presentation.

Graduate students should expect one additional (and complex) assignment.

A 80-minute long mid-term test will cover roughly the first two topics in the course, while an equally long final examination will cover the rest of the course. All the written tests are open-book.

The assignments will account for 60% of your final grade, while the two written tests will account for 20% each.

COVID-19 update: Due to the university-wide suspension of face-to-face interaction for the remainder of this term the following changes in the course organization including the marking scheme are now in effect:

Should you require special accommodations because of a disability, please come and discuss this with me at the begining of the term. I will not take into consideration requests made on or after the day in which the first assignment is released.
