Grading

There will be approximately four assignments. Each assignment will ask you to solve a problem or research an existing solution for a problem. A proper report (including references as appropriate) will always be a deliverable for an assignment and may be published on the course’s Web site (so that you have to release it under the sect-license). Selected assignments may also require a class presentation.

Graduate students should expect one additional (and complex) assignment and on occasion additional questions in the regular assignments.

A 80-minute long mid-term test will cover roughly the first two topics in the course, while an equally long final examination will cover the rest of the course. All the written tests are open-book.

The assignments will account for 60% of your final grade, while the two written tests will account for 20% each.

Academic dishonesty: Any form of academic dishonesty will result automatically in zero marks for the respective test and may be further pursued according to the departmental and university regulations on the matter. I strongly recommend that you read the Academic Integrity section of the Academic Calendar.

Generally, any use of information produced by third parties (including but not limited to automated tools such as generative AI) must be avoided and if used must be accompanied by proper credit. The inclusion of any uncredited material that is not yours is considered academic dishonesty. If in doubt check with your instructor. You must never use any information produced by other students in the course (unless they are your teammates for the respective assignment).

Special Needs

Should you require special accommodations please come and discuss this with me at the begining of the term. You should also contact the Student Accessibility & Accommodation Services to obtain authorization as well as assistance for any special arrangements.
